What is Off the Canvas?
Off The Canvas (OTC) is a volunteer driven art enrichment program at Beachside Montessori Village, a Broward County Public K-8 Magnet School in Hollywood, Florida. Said differently, OTC is a group of art-loving parents and supportive educators ensuring that our children get as much exposure to art as possible.

The program goal is to have a volunteer (or two) visit each K-5 classroom once a month throughout the year. The volunteer(s) works under the direction of and in cooperation with the Off The Canvas program coordinators and the classroom host teacher. The volunteer(s) presents a display of various arts and crafts to the class through the use of library books, posters, laptop computers and/or the Promethean board. The presentation of information will highlight significant aspects of an artists’ or craftsmen's style and life as well as lead discussions with students about the art or craft. In addition to the presentation, the volunteer will provide a hands on art or craft project that coincides with the presentation. Thanks to our hardworking program coordinators, our creative and patient class volunteers, supportive host teachers and an amazing principal, OTC is in its 3rd wonderful year.

is our annual event to showcase the work completed throughout the year. Our goal is to have each class volunteer organize and display some of the work created during the year at this fun open house. This year's event will be in May.
